This is the largest and most widespread of the eastern sessile (flowers sit right on top of the leaves) trilliums

They will survive dry spells though they will not perform in chronically dry sites

This hard-to-find Lachman hybrid has been one of my favorites since I first acquired it in 1994

This stunning 1994 introduction from Virginia's Mobjack Nursery has a much darker green center than H. 'Patriot' but is surrounded by the same sharply contrasting wide, pure white border. In early summer, the 4' wide clumps are topped with sturdy stalks of lavender flowers.
